Austin’s Best Data Center Is Also Green

In August 2005, after relocating from downtown Austin into a new 15,000 square foot space, OnRamp became the first Internet provider and data center in Texas to run its business operations entirely on green energy. What does that mean? That means that 100 percent of the energy needed to fulfill our 24/7/365 Full 7 Layer Support promise comes from renewable energy. This is a remarkable feat, given the relatively high-energy needs of a business of OnRamp’s size.

We are immensely proud of our choices, and, as more and more people throughout the nation are inspired to support green companies, OnRamp provides clients a competitive edge for our customers as they demonstrate environmentally responsible practices. Our green renovation also included improvements to the cooling system, resulting more efficient equipment and lower overall energy consumption. As a result of these changes, Austin Energy named OnRamp a  GreenChoice Corporate Champion in 2005.

True to our commitment, we’ve also sought to develop a workplace that is both environmentally friendly and socially conscious. Employees participate in a company wide recycling program. And since 1994, we have shared the wealth by offering free hosting and monitoring services to non-profits.

At OnRamp, we were able to accomplish all of these changes while continuously maintaining full service for our clients as a single source of complete and integrated Internet operations. We believe it is an ability to innovate and constantly strive for improvement that has helped us continue to have steady growth in a time that has been very uncertain for many of our colleagues and competitors.
